'What are you Learning?'

This question popped up early in the year, and it really stuck with me. Partly because learning and studying are big parts of a portfolio career, and also because it's just such a great question!
I'm pretty sure that specific learning will become a focus in one of my 6-week blocks. I've been brainstorming something formal for this year, but I'm not quite there yet.
So, this post is about how learning shows up in different ways and what I've noticed since I got asked this question.
Languages
I met a new friend who insisted on switching to the local language of the country we were in. They are from Mexico and their first language is Spanish, and they're fluent in English. I really appreciated this as it challenged me. For the really important stuff, we switched back to English because I didn't want to miss anything crucial.
Spent some time in a Northern Indian metropolis where "Hing-lish" is pretty much the main language now. I really valued the moments when I got to hear pure Hindi though I think my 'Hinglish' is pretty good.
In both cases, I'm talking about conversations in homes and communities, not the touristy spots.
I don't think I'll be jumping on Duolingo anytime soon, but I might be more intentional on future trips.
That one extra sporting activity...
I've got a list, and I might be ready to commit to something new. I have a feeling that by the time I get to my dedicated learning block, this new activity will find me rather than the other way around.

Here's what's on the list:
Padel - there's an organisation needed here I feel, could be a blocker
Golf - so far, I've hit the driving range socially once this year
More intense and frequent hikes
Swimming (more regularly)
Or maybe a martial art...
I can't wait to see where this goes by the end of 2026!
Then there is the less tangible stuff - on a recent day out with my nephew who I took on a tour of Wembley Stadium, it is inevitable that what we will consume will be different for each of our lenses. For example, I was most taken with the importance of environment in regards to preparation, be it before a concert or sports match, as well what happens during the intervals and the set up of the coaches rooms. The importance of enviroment translates into daily life as well and I feel it most in my capacity as a facilitator.
I might need to check back with the person who asked the question to confirm what I said back then—I have a feeling sports might have been part of it along with the area I'd like to explore more formally...and as I write this, maybe the formal is calling me organically also.
