In Deep Work....

Last week, I had the opportunity to take myself away for a few days and I had the place to myself. The purpose was mental rest, enforced physical rest (I had a bad knee!) and to some extent emotional rest.
It also gave me focus time on the 'work' I needed to get done. This included:
Creating content
Working on proposals
Wine writing
Reading - where pleasure meets wellbeing - refreshing myself on fasting (like a girl) concepts and future of work concepts
Personal Finance - practical and learning
All this, coupled with some 'ah-ha' type conversations of late made me reflect on whether a 5 hour (work) day is actually the optimum for most of us, particularly in the knowledge work arena. It also pays to remember that the 8 hour day model was created at a certain point in time for a certain reason and had its merits then.
But what of the future?
Here's a video I recorded with some of these reflections.
Depending on the type of work we're doing, what's the real optimum time?
If we're all likely to be working into our 70s, should we be thinking in terms of re-balancing now?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
