Change Musings August 2025

Reflecting on the Upcoming Go-Live

This post serves as a moment of reflection on my current work rather than a seasonal change. With just three weeks left until the next 'go-live' for the project I'm involved in, I find myself contemplating the journey so far.

What’s Going Well?

Looking back, I can see that several valuable lessons learned from previous go-lives have been successfully integrated into our current approach. While not every lesson has been applied, and some conflicting views on dates and decisions remain, each point of contention offers an opportunity for deeper understanding and refinement for future projects.

The core team has maintained a strong focus, with regular check-ins that help ensure we are on track. So far, things are progressing positively. It's encouraging to note that both the end client and users are actively engaging with the process, despite it still being summer break.

In our efforts to enhance engagement, we've introduced a series of lunchtime webinars aimed at providing training on the technical (clinical) aspects of the project. These sessions not only clarify the logistics but also create a space for questions and answers. Additionally, we plan to host in-person sessions and distribute hard copy posters to further inform stakeholders about the upcoming changes.

Watch Outs

However, as I reflect on our progress, I also recognize some areas that require vigilance. There are elements from previous processes that have seemingly been overlooked this time around.

It's crucial to identify potential bottlenecks early on and navigate around them effectively. Moreover, we must avoid the assumption that processes from the past will seamlessly repeat themselves; this has been a key takeaway from our lessons learned.

As we move closer to the go-live in September, I feel grateful to be part of the engagement aspect of this transformation program. It’s a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change, and I look forward to sharing more insights as we progress.

As for seasonal change on a personal level, that's coming too! Sometimes it's healthy to reset boundaries, and remember, a healthy 'no' leads to new directions....
