How your Portfolio can change...in one month!

Picture
January 2021 in review!
What day is it? No, seriously….I spent most of last month asking that. Being in pretty much full lockdown with a full portfolio, the days certainly blended into one. Compared with December, where I’d got myself into a bit of a routine, changes in my portfolio had an impact for sure….!
Home
Often this aspect gets overlooked, however your environment, and the people around you and what’s happening with them also impacts your portfolio. We made some changes to living arrangements within the house so the room I’d been working out of previously, I was now displaced from. No bad thing - I don’t mind the variety, but environment does dictate performance. Whilst I made a nice little back drop for myself in video calls, my desk set up wasn’t ideal and needs to be changed this month.
When the working arrangements change for who you live with too...this impacts your environment. Again, I’d say at home for us this is largely a positive thing, but an adjustment for all parties nonetheless. Although I’ve spent the bulk of the month at ‘home’ - I can’t say I’ve been present. We have however created a ritual of cards at tea time that breaks up the day and screen free for 30-45 minutes.

Volunteering
Most definitely an intense month for this though some hours can be equally attributed to ‘study’ work too. On balance, I think I can safely say that I spent 60+ hours in this category, from attending training with my peers from all corners of the globe, delivering training sessions myself, strategy planning and so on.
It’s been a tough, challenging month time wise however I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the reward outweighs the pain. I’m serving as Club Growth Director for Toastmasters International in the South of the UK and inevitably a challenging a year all round. I know I’m growing from this experience and the bonds I’ve formed with my counterparts is priceless.

Study/Learning
Most of my Saturday (mornings) in January were dedicated to this - in some cases more. This was either for the reasons mentioned above or dedicated to workshops on the business accelerator I am currently in. Ironically, there is also some truth in learning by delivering training yourself. I was involved in an IWFM webinar about recruitment as well as delivering a number of short training sessions within Toastmasters.

Paid/Revenue
The Exceptional Sales Career was published in January - hooray! An incredible project to have been involved in on a number of levels. In addition, my involvement in Property Connect increased a little as we moved our regular in person events online for the foreseeable future. A tight community that continues to grow in spite of our turbulent times.
Of course, you may have also noticed we’ve increased our activity around Portfolio People. We now have a full program of webinars and events planned 2 months in advance. We’ve had a couple of socials and are preparing our membership offering. Stay tuned for more on that soon!
For now, I hope February is a little quieter and would welcome a lie-in!
